Swim Groups

The Daly City Dolphins offers training and practice groups for swimmers of all ages and ability levels. It is the goal of the Dolphins to offer age specific training for all of our athletes geared towards challenging each individual and developing each individual to the best of their abilities.   Our Mission Statement is 

"TO OPEN THE DOOR TO THE WORLD OF COMPETITIVE SWIMMING TO THE CHILDREN OF OUR COMMUNITY."

Bronze Group

This is our entry level group. An athlete need not be able to swim all four of the competetive strokes.  We require the athlete only swim 25 yards of Freestyle and 25 yards of Backstroke.

Silver Group

From the Bronze group, athletes move into this group. Athletes in this group focus mainly on developing four legal competitive strokes, having fun, and perfecting start and turn technique.

Gold Group

From the Silver group, athletes move into this group. Athletes in this group are usually at least 10 years old and have completed the Silver Group move-up skills list. This group is exposed to training for the first time while trying to prepare for the 200 Freestyle and 200 Individual Medley races. Competing at swim meets is highly encouraged at a rate of about once every other month.

Time Requirements that need to be met as well as the coaches approval to move to the J.R. group are

     200 IM- 3:00                   200 Free 2:40

J.R. Group

Minimum age for entry into this group is 11 years old. Athletes entering this group must display a desire to begin training on a more committed basis. Competition at swim meets is expected in this group. Training takes precedence over technique work for the first time in the athlete's development. Athletes in this group train for the 200 Individual Medley and 500 Freestyles.

Pre-Senior Group

Minimum age for entry into this group is 12 years old. Athletes entering the Pre-Senior group must display a strong desire to perform at the highest level they are capable of. Training is geared towards individual talents, although a strong aerobic endurance factor is present. Athletes in the Pre-Senior group are directed towards making their Far Western Time Standards. Typical training sets include:

3x200IM @3:05

Senior Group

Minimum criteria for entry is (1) Far Western time standard and a desire to be competitive on a higher level. This group focuses on competing at Senior and Sectional meets. Minimum training sets for entry include:

16x100 @ 1:10
4X200IM @ 2:50
